Women who have breasts that are too large or heavy for their frame can suffer a wide range of discomforts, from back and neck pain to embarrassment and self-consciousness. Fortunately, breast reduction surgery, offered at our New Hampshire practice, near the Massachusetts border, can provide significant relief.
Breast reduction has the same scars as a full breast lift, but in this case the breast gland itself is reduced, whereas in the lift it is not. In contrast to mastopexy (breast lift) patients, who are understandably very concerned about the scars and their length, breast reduction patients ordinarily care very little about the scars: they simply want relief from discomfort and from the embarrassment they feel because of breast size.
Breast reduction patients at my New Hampshire practice, near Massachusetts, tend to be the happiest and easiest to please of all breast surgery patients because most obtain such rapid symptomatic relief.
Every pound of extra breast or abdominal weight adds approximately seven pounds of stress to the back. For this reason, even patients who have a more modest amount of reduction (even one to two pounds) will have significant relief of lower back symptoms that occurs very rapidly after surgery.
Breast reduction surgery carries the same potential risks as other surgical procedures, but the occurrences of complication are rare. One thing to be aware of is that women who have undergone a breast reduction may have increased difficulty breastfeeding, due to the removal of some of the glandular tissue. It is also possible, as with all breast surgery, to have either an increase or a decrease in nipple sensation on one or both sides, which may be temporary or permanent. These and any other risks will be discussed thoroughly during your pre-surgical consultation.
The consultation fee for Breast Reduction surgery is $175.00 if there is no insurance involved. Breast Reduction surgery may be covered by your insurance if certain criteria are met. Dr. Constantian’s surgical fee for Breast Reduction surgery, with no applicable insurance, is $5,565.00.
Because Dr. Constantian operates in a hospital setting, the hospital and anesthesia fees are not within his control and may change from time to time. If you would like more information regarding the hospital and anesthesia fees, please call our New Hampshire office.
