Offering Breast Lift Surgery – North of Boston, Massachusetts

It is a common problem among women to lose volume and firmness in the breasts over time, especially after pregnancy or significant weight loss. Breast lift surgery, offered at our practice near Boston, Massachusetts, is a procedure that is designed to restore the shape and position of the breasts, either through the removal of excess skin or the addition of a breast implant.

What is Mastopexy and When Do You Use It?

A patient with a droopy breast is analogous to a person wearing pants that are too long: there is too much “material” (skin) for the amount of underlying support (gland).   If a surgeon places a breast implant, that is analogous to the person with the long pants gaining weight: her pants will sit up higher because there is more underlying support.

Just like the pants will fit if the person gains weight or has the pants taken up, or both, breast lift can be accomplished at our Boston, Massachusetts-area practice by placement of an implant, removal of breast skin, or both.  Depending upon the patient’s breast size, shape, and desired breast volume, it is possible to select the right option.  Another very critical factor is the patient’s feeling about scars (in other words, how important it is to minimize scars versus having a better shape).

Mastopexy / Breast Lift

A full mastopexy, or breast lift, involves longer scars (around the nipple-areola, straight down to the fold under the breast, and along that fold for some distance). If an implant is placed, less skin needs to be removed and therefore the scars can be shorter. Occasionally, the scars can be limited only to the area around the areola. However, each method has its limitations. For example, it would be ideal to lift every breast only by using a scar around the areola. However, if too much skin is removed by that method, the breast becomes flatter and the scar is usually worse. Therefore, the right option for a particular patient can only be decided by a good consultation with the patient so that she makes the best decision possible for herself.

Fees
The consultation fee for Breast Lift surgery is $175.00. Dr. Constantian's surgical fee for Breast Lift surgery is $3,565.00.

Because Dr. Constantian operates in a hospital setting, the hospital and anesthesia fees are not within his control and may change from time to time. If you would like more information regarding the hospital and anesthesia fees, please call our New Hampshire office.

Simultaneous Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift

Breast augmentation and breast lift have conflicting goals: the augmentation makes the breast larger and heavier, whereas the lift makes it higher.  Therefore, while a breast implant lifts the breast, it will also tend to drag down the correction achieved by the breast lift itself.

I therefore look at augmentation/mastopexy as a compromise operation.  The augmentation improves breast shape while the lift improves breast position.  However, if the implant is too large, it will invalidate the breast lift.  Once again, the proper decision can only be made by a good consultation between patient and surgeon.

Fees

The consultation fee for Breast Augmentation with a Lift surgery is $175.00. Dr. Constantian's surgical fee for Breast Augmentation with a Lift surgery is $5,400.00.
